Separate VGA graphics will be good option. Let me know in detail what graphics are needed. I will work it on this week end and send you the raw work.

Could you please provide me details what icons are needed to be created.
The last thing left to do is to get some of the graphics, which are sized for 240x320, resized for a native vga resolution. Dynamic scaling is both slow and kinda ugly.

You must have an HTC Touch Diamond. VGA resolution isn't support in the 0.2.0 but it is being worked on the development code and is kind of working in there right now.

Since this is something a lot of people are asking for getting is working for the next release is something I want to get done.

<!-- The app mappings below work on a Sprint HTC Touch -->

I have also a HTC Touch but it work on 480x640 but this source run correctly on 240x320.

What changes I have to do to change resoluntion ?

I have also to change the size of all images ?
It would be nice not to let me do that.

The background image is not displayed on the main menu.

As I also am a developer on .NET Framework(I haven't developed much on CF), I'll try to solve this issues (if you don't have the time...) and then send the code to you... :)

Happy coding.

New Post: Development branch back to stable

The dev branch is all working again and has some new stuff in it.

* There's a couple of new widgets for the home screen to display missed calls and text messages and to display upcoming appointments.
* A couple new things on the status bar like bluetooth, data network and roaming indicators
* Almost everything is stitched together declaratively now which makes it a lot easier to modify the buttons, launcher screens and the contents of the home screen
* ButtonGrid scrolling

Now I'm debating whether to work on animated page transitions and gesture based navigation or to extend the framework to allow for the creation of custom Widget based mini-apps such as one that would pull current weather from a WebService.

New Post: 0.2.0 Released

I was going to create a messaging status widget for the Home page but as I started on that I began making the contents of each page purely declarative (instead of coded into the two WidgetHostForm derived classes). This started the code down a path that is a significant departure so I decided to cut the release branch as-is and continue down the declarative path in the Development branch.

The 0.2.0 code is pretty stable but Development is going to be pretty well disrupted as soon as I check in the work in progress. If you are looking to toy around with the code I would suggest sticking with the release branch for a bit as I can't make any guarantees as to what's Development will do for a few days.

New Post: 0.2.0 release almost ready

I'm closing in on having the features for 0.2 done. I'm excited about this because this release will include the basics to make the a usable shell as opposed to a demonstration.
* status updates on the top bar
* complete set of launcher buttons, including dynamically generated views of the Windows start menu
* reasonable performance
* badge notification of unread emails, missed calls and new text messages
* the beginning of a framework that should make it pretty easy to add new widgets and functionality

The last thing I'm going to add before cutting the release is a messaging indicator widget on the home screen because I like to be able to glance at my phone to see if I've missed a call or gotten a new email.

Once that's done I plan on dog-fooding this in lieu of the Windows Mobile today screen to see how usable it is for day to day.

New Post: Per Pixel Alpha

After a few hours trying to figure out why, even though AlphaBlend says it supports per pixel alpha blending it kept returning an error code I think I've got it.

"The AlphaBlend function has the ability to
do either constant alpha blending over the entire source image or pixel
level blending for bitmaps with an alpha channel. Unfortunately, the
NETCF bitmap loader creates a bitmap with the same pixel format as the
display when loading a bitmap file or resource and loses the alpha
channel information (if present). This means that the AlphaBlend
function can only be used for constant value alpha blending of images.

...

If we instantiate an IImagingFactory
and use it to load our image from a file or resource, the alpha channel
will be preserved (don't, however, confuse the IImage COM interface we
get back with a System.Drawing.Image managed object). Then we can ask
the Imaging object to draw itself and it will use the alpha channel
information in the image during the render.

Now to replace a bunch of BMP's with PNG's!

New Post: Blizzards

So it is blizzarding (if that is a verb) here in Minnesota. Hence all of the check-ins today.

The widget classes are starting to come together and I figured out where those registry exceptions are coming from.

The SystemState class must be doing some on error resume next type of logic when accessing the registry.
